The Challenge Initiative (TCI) aims to sustainably scale-up evidence-based approaches to increase use of modern contraceptive methods among all women 15-49 years of age in urban poor areas with a special emphasis on women ages 15 to 24. TCI works with local governments to improve the knowledge and attitudes of adolescents and youth related to contraceptives, improve their self-efficacy to use and access to contraceptives, and create an enabling environment that allows them to freely obtain informed-choice contraceptive services. Adolescents and youth are typically more tech savvy than older generations. As a result, digital solutions are an effective way to reach youth with information they need and want about puberty and contraceptives, as well as link them to service delivery points.
