Room to Read’s Girls’ Education Program has been active since 2001 and today operates in eight low- and lower-middle income countries in Asia and Africa. At the core of the program is its life skills curriculum, which seeks to equip participants with social and emotional competencies such as self-confidence, communication, and creative problem solving that will enable them to thrive.
This presentation will focus on Room to Read’s intensive, multi-country process to develop and refine a comprehensive life skills assessment tool which measures knowledge, attitudes, and skills across a range of competencies. Presenters will discuss challenges around tool design, and the refinement of tools and processes through iteration across multiple years and geographic contexts that include both Africa and Asia. They will also share plans for continued development and use.
