October 9, 2020

Apply here: https://bit.ly/33jGOpa

The Advocacy Accelerator and Mobilisation Lab are offering a virtual Campaign Accelerator training for campaigners and activists based in Africa from 28 September to 9 October. Campaigners working on gender justice in the region or interested in applying a gender justice lens to their work are encouraged to apply. This training will focus on a campaign case study related to gender justice in the context of Covid-19. The training and materials are in English and participants need to be very comfortable working in English.

Campaigners will learn how to apply design thinking, a systems lens, and people-powered approaches to designing a campaign. We are accepting applications until 10 August and we will be communicating decisions by 14 August 2020.

The training will be delivered virtually in 10 four-hour sessions.
Training dates: 28 September – 2 October and 5 – 9 October 2020
Training times: 9.00-13.00 GMT+2

Apply now. We are accepting applications until 10 August and we will be communicating decisions by 14 August 2020.

About the Campaign Accelerator

Who wins lasting change in today’s world? Nimble teams that build creative and transformative advocacy campaigns that engage people in meaningful ways.

That’s why we developed the Campaign Accelerator, a collaborative planning process that blends tried and true strategy tools with the best of design thinking, lean start-up principles, and participatory approaches to problem solving. The result? Greater insight, innovation and alignment, leading to greater campaign success.

Want to learn how to lead your own team through this effective approach to campaign planning? Attend our upcoming virtual training from 28 September to 9 October 2020.

Going virtual

As a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, we are delivering this training in a virtual format.

More than converting a training into video, we’re building in principles and methodologies of creative and strategic collaboration that are inherent to our approach – using a mixture of virtual plenary work, online break-out groups and offline individual work. We’re excited to offer this training remotely so that you can keep doing your vital social justice work.

Curriculum

The training is delivered in 10 half-day sessions, during which participants learn to:

  • Uncover new opportunities to address the root causes of an issue through systems thinking
  • Generate and test creative ideas to inspire and engage key audiences
  • Foster a collaborative team culture that embraces learning and iteration throughout a project cycle
  • Integrate new planning approaches that help established teams navigate increasingly complex environments
  • Design people-centered campaign strategies and actionable campaign plans

This is a dynamic process. We brainstorm and experiment. We use virtual collaboration tools. We interact with our key audiences. We work together across disciplines and expertise, welcoming diverse perspectives.

The curriculum also includes a personalised coaching session with one of our expert trainers. After the training, participants join a peer support network of Campaign Accelerator alumni around the world.

The training really inspired us to rethink how we create change… Day by day I’m seeing differences in the way our teams are working together.

Registration Fees

Campaign Accelerator trainings use a sliding scale based on organisational budget. We charge a higher rate to well-resourced groups to enable colleagues from less well-resourced organisations to participate.

Large groups

Annual budget greater than US $5 million:      US $3,000

Medium groups

Annual budget of US $ 1-5 million:                      US $2,500

Small groups or independent facilitators

Annual budget less than US $1 million:               US $1,500

We do not want cost to be a barrier to participation, and as such offer a limited number of spots at a subsidised rate. We also offer full scholarships to exceptional candidates who express a need. Please get in touch with us at [email protected] as soon as possible to discuss your situation and what you need to in order to attend.

We practice a pay-it-forward approach; the subsidised spots that we offer are made possible thanks in part to the generous contributions of past participants. If your organisation is well-placed to offer more, your additional contribution to the CA fee will make this training accessible for those who couldn’t otherwise participate.

This process encourages new ideas AND involves pathways to realistically make ideas happen.
