Open Call – Training on Advocacy and human rights mechanisms En/Fr (Only for CIVICUS Alliance Member – Fully Funded)

September 3, 2019 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

*Only for CIVICUS Alliance Member – Fully Funded*

As part of the European Commission’s initiative for regional capacity development, we have an exciting opportunity for individuals and organisations working in Africa and Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) for a training on Advocacy, particularly focused on regional and international mechanisms. As you may know, we conducted a needs assessment with a sample of CIVICUS membership to identify capacity development gaps within member organisations and networks. One of the key themes highlighted in these assessments is advocacy and human rights mechanisms.

We invite you to submit an application to this open call, to send your advocacy/lobbying officer (or person who will best benefit from learning advocacy tools aimed at regional and international human rights mechanisms) to participate in this training.

Africa:

This training will be held in Banjul, The Gambia, from 15-21 October 2019, and consist of three different elements. Advocacy training will be conducted by our partner in The Gambia, from 15-17 October. Participants will then attend the NGO Forum, which is held ahead of the ordinary sessions of the African Commission of Human and People’s Rights (ACHPR). The 65th session of the ACHPR will open on the 21 October, where participants will have the opportunity to practically implement their training.

Latin America and the Caribbean:

This training will be held in Panama City from 7-11 October 2019, and  will be dedicated to advocacy tools at the United Nations, including the UN Human Rights Council, and the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights. The training will incorporate member feedback and learnings from across the region.

Our budget for this training will enable 10-15 members per region to attend these trainings. We’d like to get to know you a little better, and what you hope to learn from this training- please fill in the application for Africa here or LAC here before the 9 September 2019 to be considered. Successful applicants will have their travel (flight, accommodations, meals and visa costs) and course costs covered by CIVICUS. We will let you know if you have been selected by 11 September 2019.

The training is open to all CIVICUS members. If you are not yet a member of CIVICUS joining our alliance is very easy- please visit us at this link, and send us an email at [email protected] if you have any questions.

Please also don’t hesitate to send this opportunity to your networks and anyone who may be interested! We look forward to hearing from you!
