Monitoring and Evaluation for Advocacy Training For Local Technical Assistance (TA) Providers

November 14, 2022 - November 15, 2022

We invite you to join the Monitoring and Evaluation for Advocacy Training For Local Technical Assistance (TA) Providers.

Complete the survey to join the training.

The M&E for Advocacy Training will take place concurrently in French and English.

In the recent past, there has been increased demand, from advocates in Africa, for Monitoring and Evaluation for Advocacy capacity strengthening, as donors continue to push for advocates to show the role and impact they played in getting to the ultimate advocacy outcomes so that they can get the understanding and resources they need. Documentation of advocacy processes and impact are regarded as critical to credibility, improved learning and the ability to attract organization resources.

There exists many challenges and opportunities for strengthening the evidence-base used for advocacy. It is expressed that advocates often face challenges in accessing and utilizing evidence to support advocacy efforts and researchers are rarely trained in what data are most needed to influence policymakers decisions. There is also an expressed need to link researchers better with the community and advocates to help shape the questions and evidence-base for advocacy, so that the data is useful.

As part of its mandate, the Advocacy Accelerator (AAC) is dedicated to supporting the advocacy ecosystem on the continent through bespoke advocacy capacity strengthening and facilitating linking and learning. The AAC understands that monitoring and measuring advocacy interventions is unique from other conventional programming and that there are a number of challenges faced by programmes and organisations in monitoring and measuring advocacy programs.

To this end, the AAC will be conducting a Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) for Advocacy studio training for local technical assistance (TA) providers in the field of Advocacy.  The AAC defines Technical Assistance (TA) providers as Organisations or Individuals who provide advocacy capacity strengthening (training) and/or conduct advocacy related duties (non-training) on behalf of other advocacy organisations. This may include Trainers, Researchers, Evaluators, Think Tanks, INGOs/NGOs, Networks, among others.

We have created this short evaluation to assess your general understanding of monitoring and evaluation for Advocacy.  The insights you provide will be analysed and used to inform the content of the training for Technical Assistance providers conducting M&E for Advocacy.

Upon completing the survey, you will also be signed up to join the forthcoming M&E for Advocacy Training taking place 14-15 November, in both French and English from 3:00pm to 4:30pm EAT.

This survey should be completed by an individual, or on behalf of your organisations. Please note that this is an assessment of the current individual capacity of TA providers in relation to monitoring and measuring advocacy programs.

We appreciate the value of your time, and this survey will take about fifteen minutes. Please complete the survey by 5 November, 2022.
