The Advocacy Accelerator is delighted to extend to you the opportunity to participate in the 2 part virtual series on Monitoring & Evaluation for Advocacy that runs from 6th-7th July 2022.
Supporting monitoring and evaluation for advocacy in Africa is a key priority of the Advocacy Accelerator. This has been informed by our research and other evidence which indicates that this is a key technical area that requires support. For example, in the report by the Advocacy Accelerator – The Impact of Covid-19 on Advocacy in Africa – Advocacy Accelerator, advocates specifically reported that they would like to be trained on M&E for advocacy (evaluating online advocacy interventions, measuring the impact of online campaigns, the impact of media advocacy and outcome harvesting).
An AAC webinar focused on the paper No Royal Road: Finding and Following the Natural Pathways in Advocacy Evaluation – Advocacy Accelerator further highlighted the ‘…tension at the heart of advocacy, and advocacy evaluation, between wanting clear answers and the inherent uncertainties around how social and political change really happens’.
Further evidence of the need for M&E for advocacy is contained in the report on strengthening country-based advocacy by Catalysts for Change Report, in which donors expressed the need for advocates to demonstrate the role and impact of their efforts towards achieving ultimate advocacy outcomes. This would allow donors to better understand advocates’ resource requirements and resource allocations.
This training is for those who work in advocacy from implementation to evaluation / reporting. Please share this invitation with anyone within your organisation who would benefit from this training.
