About the SHE SOARS! Project
SHE SOARS! (Sexual and reproductive Health & Economic empowerment [SHE] Supporting Out of school Adolescent girls’ Rights and Skills [SOARS]) is a seven-year, multi-stakeholder project working on the areas of sexual and reproductive health and rights and economic empowerment in Kenya, Uganda and Zambia. Our focus will be to strengthen the capacity of youth-led organizations in the region & deliver on youth-led SRHR advocacy and meaningful youth engagement and empowerment across the project.
About the Youth Advisory Board (YAB)
The implementing partners of SHE SOARS are committed to meaningfully engage young people in the initiatives targeting them. Therefore, we see the need of creating a youth-led body that allows young people to lead as experts of their own realities. The Youth Advisory Board is a structure within SHE SOARS project that is meant to center the needs of youth, by engaging young people in the governance, design and implementation of the project. In that capacity, we want the YAB to be a fully youth-led space, where young advocates from the region can sit at the table and engage in the decision-making processes of the project.
The YAB’s mandate
-To design specific guidelines of Meaningful Youth Engagement (MYE) for the project and to ensure that the principles of MYE are observed across all the areas of the project.
-To provide technical support to implementing partners on MYE efforts.
-To support youth engagement at the community level in activities across the project and to engage in them as well.
