Vicci Tallis

Content Facilitation and Training Development Lead

Vicci joined the Advocacy Accelerator (AAC) in November 2020. She is a feminist and has worked in development, gender, HIV and AIDS, sexual and reproductive rights and LGBTI issues in South and Southern Africa, for over 35 years. She has held various positions which include Regional Director for Programmes for the SRHR Africa Trust, Programme Manager for the HIV and AIDS Unit at the Open Society Initiative for Southern Africa and, Manager of the HIV Programme at Women’s Rights in Development [AWID].

Vicci has straddled various roles including advocacy and activism, curriculum design and facilitation, research, grant-making and resource mobilisation. Over the last 15 years, she has consulted for a range of clients including UN Women, UNAIDS, International Community of Women Living with HIV (Global, Southern African and Asia Pacific), Terres de Homme, Greenpeace South East Asia and, HelpAge Asia. Vicci has a PhD. in Development Studies from the University of KwaZulu Natal, South Africa. Her PhD thesis, Feminisms, HIV and AIDS – Subverting Power, Reducing Vulnerability, was published as a book in 2012.

For Vicci, this new role at the Advocacy Accelerator provides an opportunity to bring years of experience together to strengthen the capacity of advocates and organisations, at the same time as learning from others in the field. The Accelerator is excited to welcome Vicci on board.
