Covid-19 and Advocacy in Africa: The impacts and implications going forward (Qualitative research)
Abstract
In 2020, the Advocacy Accelerator (AAC) commissioned tackling how Africa's advocacy sector was impacted by and responding to the Covid-19 pandemic, and to unpack how the Advocacy Accelerator (AAC) could better support the sector. This research takes a deep dive into what happened when Covid-19 arrived on our doorstep: the African context into which Covid-19 entered; the direct effects of Covid-19 on civil society and advocacy; and the implications for AAC as a support organisation. While we faced multiple hurdles finalising and publishing this important piece over the past two years, we are delighted to share it with you now and hope it provides valuable information for your own advocacy purposes.

Our findings demonstrate that one of the largest shifts in advocacy work is the adoption of new and online technologies.
