CSW66 Virtual Parallel Event

March 15, 2022

Dear all,

As part of CSW we are inviting you to a webinar with young feminist advocates working on challenging patriarchy in Africa. the event will be held on Tuesday, 15th March 2022 at 1400hrs EAT 0600hrs EST (save the date)

Title: Supporting African Feminist Advocacy; Breaking the barriers through Re-prioritization and Re-funding Capacity Strengthening Programs.

Summary of side event

The 90 minutes session will be a moderated panel discussion with 3 – 5 young feminist advocates working in the African ecosystem on their experience participating in global and regional advocacy processes (both physically and virtually). Our aim is to highlight key challenges to effective and meaningful engagement of the grassroot feminist and women movements in such processes and make a call-to-action to various stakeholders including member states to reprioritize and refund advocacy capacity strengthening programmes. We want to centre, and show how advocacy capacity strengthening has supported young feminists to participate – using the event as an opportunity to showcase entities that are working to support young feminist broadly to improve their advocacy based on their context and their priorities.

The outcomes of each session are forwarded to ECOSOC for follow up.
The sixty-sixth session of the Commission on the Status of Women will take place from 14 to 25 March 2022.
