Request for Proposals

May 10, 2019 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

ViiV Healthcare will again be accepting grant applications through the Positive Action for Youth (PAFY) Direct Mentorship Services for Youth Fund. This funding opportunity is designed to support new and existing mentorship programs for youth ages 13 to 24 living with HIV as they enter and begin to navigate adult care.

Young people ages 13-24 have always known a world with HIV. Although ongoing scientific advances in prevention and treatment have cut the number of new infections substantially, youth remain disproportionately affected. One in 5 new HIV diagnoses in the US were among young people in this age group, and only half know their status.

In order to change the trajectory of the HIV epidemic in the US, Positive Action for Youth launched its first grant commitment to mentorship in 2017 and has since reached hundreds of young people living with HIV as well as their peers and allies. Over the past two years, we’ve seen mentorship help young people develop healthy behaviors and relationships—in and outside of the clinic setting—that lead to increased self-efficacy, self-worth and long-term engagement in care as well as decreased stigma. Through mentorship, youth explore whole-person health – mind, body and spirit – and take charge of their HIV.

Today, ViiV Healthcare are even more committed to supporting and strengthening youth mentorship and are pleased to reopen our Direct Mentorship Services for Youth Fund. Grants will support two-year programs—both new and existing—that are uniquely structured to respond to the needs of communities by addressing unmet needs in innovative ways; helping to close gaps in care; and supporting young people living with HIV to successfully enter and engage in care on their own terms.
