Donor funding for advocacy in the Global South: Are funding models for local advocacy fit for purpose?
In this webinar recording, the panelists  discussed the opportunities and challenges related to funding for local advocacy both from an advocate and donor’s perspective. While doing so, they provided more insights on how donors and advocates can work together towards reforming the funding architecture. Through this approach, donors and advocates will use this platform to continue the conversation on this important topic and this will allow for each constituency to better understand each other’s challenges while allowing for the possibility of co-designing solutions to the problems faced. The objectives of the webinar were:To deepen understanding of how donors are supporting national and sub-national advocacy to promote Africa’s health and development agenda. To gain additional insights into donor criteria for decision making and the factors that determine donor resource allocation for health advocacy by local partners in Africa. To learn and share effective approaches to negotiating flexible funding for local advocacy. To provide a platform for advocates and donors to exchange perspectives on opportunities and challenges in relation to funding models and joint partnerships for local advocacy efforts.Meet the Speakers Alex le May is Deputy Fund Director for AmplifyChange, providing technical support to civil society led sexual and reproductive health and rights policy and advocacy projects.
