Description

With over 2400 people in 43 countries in Africa already affected by the Coronavirus, West African countries are using community health systems set up after the Ebola outbreak to detect and prevent the spread of the virus in remote areas.

Community workers trained during the Ebola outbreak are the same ones being retrained to spot the signs of Coronavirus and educate communities. With this tactic, the World Health Organisation (WHO) hopes this will help protect the most vulnerable as the disease spreads on the continent.

Click here to explore this article by Thomson Reuters Foundation News that talks about several lessons learned from the Ebola outbreak that are being used to prepare remote villages in West Africa to combat the Coronavirus.
